Nuutti Hyvönen (born 1977, Finland) earned his doctoral degree in Mathematics at the Helsinki University of Technology in 2004. Since 2012 he has been a tenured associate professor at the Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis of the Aalto University (Helsinki, Finland). In 2008 Hyvönen worked as a visiting researcher at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, and during 2010-2012 as an Academy Research Fellow funded by the Academy of Finland.
Hyvönen's speciality is inverse problems, in particular, inverse boundary value problems for partial differential equations together with the related imaging modalities. He studies both computational and theoretical aspects of inverse mathematics. Hyvönen has co-authored more than forty peer-reviewed journal articles and has acted as a supervisor or mentor for twelve postgraduate students and postdoctoral researches. He is a board member of the Finnish Inverse Problems Society and the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Inverse Problems Research.
