Alan Turing (1912-1954) spent the last six years of his working life in Manchester. A one-day conference is being organised on the 60th anniversary of his death. This conference will be broad in scope and is intended to facilitate collaboration between numerical analysts, computer scientists and engineers. There will be talks on the mathematics underlying computation, both on theoretical aspects (Numerical Analysis) and practical aspects (Scientic Computing), and a public lecture in Turing's honour.
